Bernadette Braddy began her career with the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds in 2005 as a Labor Management Project Consultant I. Bernadette worked as a consultant for seven years before becoming the Regional Director of the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds in the Maryland/ DC area in June 2012. In 2013, Bernadette returned to the New York Region and joined the Registered Nurse Labor Management Initiative as a Consultant II. She was recently promoted to Co-Director of the Labor Management Project.

Prior to coming to the Funds, Bernadette worked in the health care industry for 15 years as the Patient Flow Coordinator in the emergency room of Bayley Seton, where she first became involved with the work of the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds and The Labor Management Project.

As a consultant, Bernadette works with institutions and the 1199SEIU UHWE union to identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement. She uses such tools as reviews of organizational priorities, customer feedback surveys, mediation and process solutions to enhance existing services and develop new initiatives. Through the creation of labor and management leadership committees, workers are empowered to lead sustainable projects while increasing their capacity through skill building, and management is introduced to alternate ways to utilize their workforce in a cooperative way. Bernadette has committed her career to improving and empowering workers to see themselves as agents of change, and to change the dynamic of labor management relationships.
