Members of 1199SEIU work in some of the world’s finest healthcare institutions, yet, like many residents of the metro New York area, they can suffer from preventable conditions and diseases. It is widely recognized that robust worksite health promotion and wellness programs provide health benefits to employees.

 

A new workplace health research bulletin identifies evidence-based best practices that labor-management workplace wellness committees can employ to promote worker health, in the areas of physical activity, tobacco cessation, nutrition and weight management, stress management, substance abuse, depression, and chronic disease management. The bulletin was issued by the Labor Management Project’s Workplace and Community Health Program, which partners with employers and 1199SEIU to develop worksite wellness initiatives.
